Hi
I have noticed some woofers are leaving comments on the host pages to ask about coming to wwoof. Our only two comments are like this.
I do not check these comments very often so did not respond in time to these wwoofers. I think it needs to be made clear that emailing, or phoning the hosts is the best way to contact the hosts.

Also can Vancouver Island be broken down geographically? It is a large area and we have a long list of farms here (5 pages) which is a lot for a wwoofer to go through. Perhaps south, central, and north (like the okanagan) or Victoria area, Naniamo area, Comox Valley, Campbell river and north.
Thanks

i agree on both counts. i found a wwoofer had left a request to stay directly on my host account page and i didn't see it for a few weeks. and now that request is stuck on my comment page - and its not a comment.

& i'd like to see vancouver island broken down into small categories too. south, central and north would be fine.

Hi Don and Louisa

We became aware of this problem within the last month and in early June added "Please contact members through their email address or phone number or use the CONTACT tab above" near the place where they choose to add a comment, hoping this would stop the practice.  Plus we also have mention of the methods to contact Hosts in the WWOOFer Guidelines.  So we have tried to make it clear.  I think perhaps language differences come into play and we do also encourage users to use Google Translate.  Any further suggestions are welcome.

I have added new Regions for Vancouver Island as reguested: South, Central, and North.

Cheers!

Becky

Vancouver Island

I just looked and the farms are still under Vancouver Island, but not under the Regions (south, central, north.)
I guess the hosts have to make this change ourselves?
Thanks

New Vancouver Island Regions

Right.  Sorry I forgot to mention that.

You will have to update your region yourself.  We have no way of knowing exactly which new Region each Host should belong to without going through each Host listing and looking on a map to figure it out.  This would take a very long time especially considering there are over 100 hosts on Vancouver Island, and we are not familiar with each and every town.  And if we did it for Vancouver Island then all other 900 hosts would expect this same special treatment when other changes are made :)

Thank you for looking after this yourself.

Cheers!

Becky
