Hi
Just wondering how hard it would be to add a calendar to the host listing.
One like hotel or rental web pages have. The host could edit it to show what dates are avail. It could be optional so if the host didn't like it have time to update it they could disable it.
I am sure the wwoofers would like it. It would save a lot of "i am sorry we are full at that time" emails and wwoofers would have to send out a lot less emails.

Hi Louisa

Actually our web team is working on a system that will allow both hosts and wwoofers to register their wwoof-stays and be able to keep track of them on-line.

This system will also allow both parties registered in a wwoof-stay arrangment to submit a "rating" of the experience.

Details still to be worked out. But the idea is in the works.

We are considering suggestions made from members and more info will be forth-coming as it develops.

Any input is always welcome.

Cheers!

availability / host information on stay

I think it would be great if wwoofers could see available dates online, and I like the idea that hosts could activate this feature if desired, or just decide not to use it.

I would also like to see more information on what hosts are actually looking for in the host profiles, especially the preferred length of stay, or if hosts would like their wwoofers to start on a certain weekday (as in, we would like you to arrive on Sunday so you can start work on Monday morning). Some hosts do give that information in their write-ups, but many don't, and it could save wwoofers a couple of emails if that kind of information was provided.
I'm thinking this information could go in the section that now has details on food, smoking, etc., for example:

Meals prepared: vegetarian
Preferred length of stay: one week
Preferred arrival day: doesn't matter
...

Even if hosts do not have any preferences, it would be handy to know that, so they could just put "any" or "doesn't matter" or something in the corresponding line.

Host information on stay

Thanks Reggie for some great ideas.

I will bring those to the table with our web team - Andrea, Fish & welcome to our newest member - Steve!

Cheers!
