Here are some thoughts on the website after using it since its redesign, and following others’ comments:

The host section is quite complete, but it would be nice to have place for another photo or two.

If the Wwoofer section were as complete, it would be a real boon to hosts so that they can better measure the fit of someone who requests to come. For example, if, when signing up, a new member was asked a series of questions such as age, gender, smoker or not, vegetarian, languages, experience, etc. it would be easier to have an idea of the person who is proposing to come join a host’s household. Another important item is a permanent address. We have always wondered what to do if something happens to a Wwoofer while with us. How do we contact family if all we have is an email address?

The next step for making this a truly useful interactive site would be for both hosts and Wwoofers to list who they have hosted or where they have Wwoofed and indicate if they may be contacted for references regarding past experiences. This way these comments would be strictly private rather than posted to the site and honest, albeit personal, opinions can be expressed one-on-one.

Thanks, John, for all the work you do in coordinating all this for all of the members, both hosts and Wwoofers, and for keeping your eye on all the forum posts.

We just have a sign in sheet where the WWOOFer signs their name, WWOOF number and emergency contact. We get them to fill it in on the first day. We have not needed it yet, but there was a time when I wished I had it before we began this practice. Just a little peace of mind.
